Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
