An extensive 60-day cruise circling Australia is being halted days after the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the ship on a isolated tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a rest. The vessel left without her and went back several hours later after the ship staff realised the lady was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission located her remains the following day.
